SKY Taekwondo Bristol was formed by the late Suh Ki Young, a 7th Dan Korean Master.
HOW SKY FORMED
Master Suh (7th Dan) took over instruction of UWE Taekwondo club in April 2004, he sat everyone down at the St Matthias Campus gym, broke a rock with his bare hands (not a nice piece of refined concrete – a BIG pebble like rock) and said “This is going to be a fighting club, if you don’t want to fight, don’t train”. This lay down the foundations of our Taekwondo Bristol club and SKY Taekwondo was formed by his students Miles, Al and Ibrahim.
Master Suh was world champion in 1987 and had incredible explosive power, flexibility and also a great heart. It is rare to find an instructor who cares so much about his students, both on and off the mat. Master Suh was like a father figure to so many members of the UWE/SKY Taekwondo family.
Master Suh tragically passed away on 25th February 2010 and is sorely missed by all who knew him.
Since his passing, now Head Coach Mohammed Ibrahim has taken responsibility to continue the grow the seeds sewn by Master Suh.
SKY Taekwondo Bristol is now a thriving club filled with motivated children, juniors and adults from all walks of life.
We pledge to make each student’s journey as fun, exciting, and educational as possible. We monitor progress closely and walk with students every step of the way. We believe that being a martial artist is not just learning to kick and punch, it is about becoming the best that you can be in every way.
